Informal takedown requests

Filing a DMCA notice (17 U.S.C. §512(c)(3))

Your notice must include:

  1. Your physical or electronic signature;
  2. Identification of the copyrighted work you claim is infringed;
  3. Identification of the material on our Site (with URL) you want removed;
  4. Your name, address, phone number and email;
  5. A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the owner, its agent or the law;
  6. A statement that the information is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner.

Counter-notice (17 U.S.C. §512(g)(3))

If your content (for example, a community post) was removed and you believe it was a mistake or misidentification, send a counter-notice with:

  1. Your physical or electronic signature;
  2. Identification of the removed material and where it appeared;
  3. A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief it was removed by mistake or misidentification;
  4. Your name, address and phone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the U.S. federal district court for your address (or, if outside the U.S., any judicial district where we may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the person who filed the notice.

We may restore the material in 10–14 business days unless the complaining party tells us they have filed a court action.

Repeat infringers

We will disable access for users who repeatedly infringe, where appropriate.

Misrepresentation

Knowingly false notices or counter-notices can lead to liability under 17 U.S.C. §512(f).
